Clinical Utility of a Wrist X-ray
1. Detecting Fractures and Bone Injuries (most common)Carpal bone fractures especially scaphoid fractures
2. Assessing Joint Alignment and Instability Dislocations or subluxations (e.g., lunate or perilunate dislocations)
3. Diagnosing Degenerative or Chronic Conditions Osteoarthritis (carpal bones, radiocarpal, CMC joints)
Rheumatoid arthritis and other inflammatory arthropathies Osteopenia/osteoporosis
5. Identifying Growth-Related Issues (in children)
No Preparation required. Rule out pregnancy.. If pregnant, confirm necessity of test and use precautions.
